Seoul: LG Chem Ltd., South Korea's leading chemical company, announced a net loss of 977.1 billion won (US$685 million) for the year 2025, marking a significant downturn from a profit of 515 billion won recorded in the previous year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, LG Chem's regulatory filing revealed that the company managed to generate an operating profit of 1.18 trillion won for the year, a notable increase compared to the 874.9 billion won achieved in the preceding year. However, the overall annual sales experienced a decline of 5.7 percent, amounting to 45.93 trillion won.

The financial results illustrate a challenging year for LG Chem, as the company navigated a transition from profitability to a substantial net loss within a year.
