Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating has reached an unprecedented 65.5 percent since his inauguration in June last year, attributed to his administration's successes in the economy and energy security, a poll revealed on Monday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, a survey conducted by Realmeter and commissioned by EKN newspaper found that 65.5 percent of the 2,519 respondents aged 18 or older approved of Lee's performance, marking a 3.6 percentage point increase from the previous poll. The previous record stood at 64.6 percent in the second week of July last year.

The latest survey, conducted nationwide from last Monday until Friday, also indicated that 30 percent of respondents disapproved of Lee's performance, a decrease of 2.8 percentage points from the previous poll, while 4.5 percent remained uncertain. The pollster attributed the rise in approval to achievements such as securing significant quantities of crude oil during the Middle East crisis and the recovery of the KOSPI to the 6,200-point level.

Additionally, Lee's firm stance on Israel's alleged mistreatment of Palestinians and his participation in a ceremony commemorating the 2014 Sewol ferry disaster have broadened his appeal among moderate and young voters. The survey reported a margin of error of 2 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.
