Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating has remained above 60 percent for the seventh consecutive week, despite a slight decrease from the previous week, as economic concerns stemming from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East influence public perception, a recent poll indicated.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the survey was conducted by Realmeter and commissioned by the EKN newspaper. It involved 2,509 respondents aged 18 and older, revealing that 62.2 percent of participants positively assessed President Lee's performance. This marks a 3.3 percentage point decline from the previous poll, which recorded the highest approval rating since Lee took office in June 2025.
The poll further noted that negative assessments of President Lee's performance increased by 3.4 percentage points, reaching 33.4 percent, while 4.4 percent of respondents remained undecided about their stance.
Realmeter attributed the dip in approval ratings to increasing oil and consumer prices, which are perceived as consequences of the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran. The survey's margin of error is reported at 2 percent, with a confidence level of 95 percent.
