Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung emphasized on Tuesday that the global industrial landscape is being reshaped by artificial intelligence (AI), highlighting the urgent need for "bold" and "speedy" investments to adapt to these changes. The president's remarks were made at the opening of policy briefings involving the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resource, the environment ministry, and other government agencies.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee pointed out the ongoing major upheaval as industries worldwide are restructured around AI technologies. He urged for decisive actions and investments to navigate this transformation effectively. Stressing the importance of South Korea building its own competitive edge, Lee stated that it is crucial for the government to identify emerging trends, plan for future developments, and establish a foundation for innovation.

Lee also emphasized the significance of securing robust industrial growth potential and a resilient energy security system to ensure the nation's ability to withstand external environmental changes. He highlighted the necessity of reducing reliance on specific countries or markets, advocating for government efforts to diversify export markets and supply chains.

In another session focused on policy briefings from the antitrust watchdog, the labor ministry, and other agencies, Lee directed the Korea Fair Trade Commission to rigorously address market irregularities such as price rigging and market manipulation. "A fair, trustworthy market is the foundation of a normal society," Lee remarked, underscoring the importance of market integrity.
