Singapore: President Lee Jae Myung has assured South Korean citizens of a robust emergency response system to address potential impacts arising from increasing tensions in the Middle East, as he commenced his state visit to Singapore. Lee communicated his message via the social media platform X shortly after his arrival for a three-day visit, during which he plans to hold summit discussions with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. Following his visit to Singapore, President Lee is scheduled to visit the Philippines before returning home on Wednesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, President Lee emphasized that despite global instability, citizens should remain unworried. He reassured the public that the Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Kim Min-seok, is thoroughly prepared across various sectors including the economy, finance, and national security. Lee further stated that Kang Hoon-sik, the presidential chief of staff, along with other senior aides, are in an emergency posture to anticipate possible contingencies. He encouraged the public to "enjoy their daily lives and focus on their livelihoods without worry."

The President's remarks came hours after Iran confirmed that its supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had been killed in attacks by the United States and Israel. In response to this development, Prime Minister Kim convened an emergency meeting with government officials to assess the situation in the Middle East and discuss appropriate response measures.
