Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung announced Wednesday that financial authorities anticipate the won to strengthen to approximately the 1,400 level within the next one or two months. He emphasized the commitment to implementing measures aimed at stabilizing the foreign exchange market.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee made these statements during a New Year's press conference, addressing the economic concerns arising from the ongoing weakness of the Korean currency, which has put pressure on the economy. He noted that the weak won is not a phenomenon exclusive to South Korea, indicating that reversing the trend through domestic policy alone presents challenges.
Lee assured that the government is actively identifying and utilizing available policy tools to stabilize the foreign exchange rate. He highlighted that a variety of effective policy measures are already being executed by the government within its existing capabilities.
