Paris: South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and French President Emmanuel Macron are set to hold summit talks in Paris to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation in security, the economy, and other areas as part of their global strategic partnership. This meeting marks a significant moment as the two nations celebrate the 140th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

According to Yonhap News Agency, President Lee began his two-day state visit to Paris after arriving from Nice, where he and President Macron co-hosted a meeting focused on the future of the film industry. Lee's visit commenced with a ceremonial gesture, laying flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arc de Triomphe. Following this, he is scheduled to have a one-on-one luncheon with Macron at the Elysee Palace.

The summit talks between the two leaders are anticipated to solidify their countries' global strategic partnership, initially established during Macron's visit to South Korea in April. A Seoul official indicated that the discussions might also cover potential collaboration in the nuclear power plant sector and efforts to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

After the summit, a joint press event will be held to announce the outcomes of their discussions. The event will be followed by a business roundtable involving around 20 companies from both countries, fostering further economic collaboration. The day will conclude with a dinner banquet hosted by President Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, at the presidential palace.
