Lee Highlights Workers’ Consent in Implementing Labor Market Flexibility

Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung emphasized the significance of garnering workers' acceptance in the process of implementing labor market flexibility during a debate session with the Economic, Social and Labor Council, which includes labor groups and government officials. Lee expressed his opposition to any unilateral sacrifices by workers as companies adjust workplace policies.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee stressed the necessity of creating conditions where workers can willingly accept the employment flexibility that companies seek. He argued against imposing these changes forcefully, labeling such actions as unfair. Lee further highlighted the importance of strengthening the social safety net to support workers in the evolving job market, urging companies that benefit from increased labor flexibility to assume a greater share of the responsibility.

"It is not right to proceed in a way that demands unilateral sacrifice from workers. We need to create a rational environment that everyone can accept," Lee stated. He reiterated the need for a robust social safety net, ensuring that workers do not feel insecure amid these changes.
