Lee Appoints Second Spokesperson and Reshuffles Presidential Secretariat

Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung has appointed Kim Nam-joon, his personal secretary, as a second spokesperson to serve alongside incumbent spokesperson Kang Yu-jung, the presidential office announced Monday. This move is part of a broader reshuffle aimed at enhancing public communication, as stated by Kang Hoon-sik, the presidential chief of staff, in a written briefing.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim Nam-joon is considered a close confidant of President Lee, having previously served as his chief secretary during Lee's tenure as a lawmaker and as press secretary when Lee was the governor of Gyeonggi Province. The reshuffle reflects Lee's strategy to bolster his administration's outreach and transparency.

Additional changes in the presidential secretariat include the promotion of Kim Hyun-ji, the presidential secretary for general affairs and a longtime aide to Lee, to head of the personal secretariat. Meanwhile, Yoon Ki-chun, who has been serving as the personal secretary to the first lady Kim Hea Kyung, will take on the role of secretary for general affairs, a senior presidential official confirmed.
