Daegu: SSG Landers leadoff hitter Park Seong-han set a Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) record for the longest hitting streak to begin a season Tuesday. After batting 3-for-4 against the Samsung Lions at Daegu Samsung Lions Park in the southeastern city of Daegu, Park has hit safely in 19 straight games to begin the 2026 season. Park broke a tie with the former Lotte Giants star Kim Yong-hee, who had an 18-game streak to start the inaugural KBO season in 1982.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Park wasted no time in setting the record, as he singled off the very first pitch he saw from the Lions starter Choi Won-tae in the top of the first inning. Park added a single in the seventh inning and then drove in a go-ahead run with a single in the top of the 10th inning, as the Landers defeated the Lions 5-4.

Park is leading the KBO with a .486 batting average and 34 hits. The longest hitting streak in KBO history is a 39-game run by Park Jong-ho, who did so for two different teams across the 2003 and 2004 seasons. Ex-Giants infielder Park Jung-tae owns the mark for the longest such streak within a single season with his 31-gamer in 1999.
