Seoul: KT and G Corp. on Thursday reported its third-quarter net income of 418.7 billion won (US$289 million), marking a 73.4 percent increase from the previous year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the company disclosed in a regulatory filing that operating income for the July-September period rose 11.4 percent year-on-year to 465.3 billion won. Sales during the same period increased by 11.6 percent, reaching 1.82 trillion won.

The company's earnings exceeded market expectations. Analysts had estimated an average net profit of 351.9 billion won, based on a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency.
