KT Wiz Slugger Ahn Hyun-min Anticipates Korean Series Debut Against Samsung Lions

Suwon:By securing the top spot in the regular season of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), the KT Wiz earned a direct entry into the Korean Series, allowing them three weeks of rest and preparation. Their last game was on October 12, and with the series opener scheduled against the Samsung Lions on Tuesday at KT Wiz Park, the team's slugger Ahn Hyun-min expressed his eagerness to return to the field.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Ahn conveyed his impatience during a pregame media session, stating, "I am tired of waiting," as he anticipated the first game set to start at 630 p.m. Ahn, who will be playing as the designated hitter, shared that the waiting period felt like another training camp.

Ahn, who received the Rookie of the Year award in 2025 after hitting 22 home runs, had a challenging second season with 14 homers in 94 games due to injuries. Despite this, he believes the team is well-prepared for the series. He noted that while he is anxious to play, he does not feel nervous, and his role as a designated hitter might help him stay composed.

The KT Wiz will host the first two games of the best-of-seven series, with the next two games and a potential Game 5 scheduled in Daegu. The final two games, if necessary, will be held back in Suwon. Ahn recalled the 2021 series win where games were played at a neutral venue due to COVID-19 and expressed a desire to clinch the title in Daegu to avoid the pressure of a Game 6 on home turf.

Ahn stated, "If we are forced to play the sixth game here, then there will be a lot of pressure on us. The goal is to finish off the series in Daegu."
