Santa monica: Netflix's hit animated film "KPop Demon Hunters" and Korean original series "Squid Game" emerged victorious at the Critics Choice Awards. "KPop Demon Hunters" won Best Animated Feature and Best Song, while "Squid Game" claimed the Best Foreign Language Series award for its third season.

According to Yonhap News Agency, "KPop Demon Hunters," directed by Korean Canadian filmmaker Maggie Kang, was named Best Animated Feature at the 31st Critics Choice Awards held in Santa Monica, California. The film outperformed contenders like Disney's "Zootopia 2" and Pixar's "Elio." The film also won Best Song for "Golden," performed by Korean American singer-songwriter Ejae, who expressed her gratitude on stage.

The animated film follows a fictional K-pop girl group, Huntr/x, who combat evil spirits with their music. This win enhances its profile ahead of the Academy Awards. Director Maggie Kang and the film's team celebrated the win, with Kang highlighting the film's journey as a love letter to Korean culture and music.

The third season of "Squid Game" beat out "Acapulco" and "Last Samurai Standing" to win Best Foreign Language Series, marking its third win in the category. The series continues to follow Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, as he seeks to dismantle the deadly game. The series has seen previous successes, with Lee Jung-jae winning Best Actor in a Drama Series in 2022.

Meanwhile, Park Chan-wook's film "No Other Choice" was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Foreign Language Film, but lost to "The Secret Agent" and "One Battle After Another," respectively.
