KOSPI Reaches New Milestone, Closing Above 4,700 for First Time

Seoul: South Korea's benchmark stock index ended at another historic high Wednesday, settling above the 4,700-point mark for the first time, on gains in technology and automobile shares. The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 30.46 points, or 0.65 percent, to finish at 4,723.10, renewing the previous record close of 4,692.64 set the previous day.

According to Yonhap News Agency, it took nine sessions to reach the 4,700-point mark after the KOSPI closed over the 4,300-point mark on January 2. Since the beginning of the year, the index has risen more than 11 percent, extending its record bull run. Last year, the KOSPI advanced over 75 percent, indicating a robust performance throughout the year.
