Seoul: Stocks on the KOSPI 200 index showed varied performance as trading closed on Friday at the Korea Stock Exchange. The index, which tracks the performance of 200 major companies listed on the exchange, witnessed gains in several sectors, although some companies faced declines.
According to Yonhap News Agency, significant increases were recorded for companies such as Hankook and Company, which saw its stock price rise by 600 KRW to close at 24,750 KRW. KIA Corp. also experienced a notable increase, with its shares climbing 1,900 KRW to 128,000 KRW. Another major gainer was DB Insurance, whose stock rose by 3,400 KRW, closing at 187,400 KRW. Meanwhile, GC Biopharma Corp.'s price increased by 3,400 KRW, reaching 130,500 KRW.
However, not all companies shared in the gains. Samsung Electronics saw a significant drop, with its stock decreasing by 9,000 KRW to 257,000 KRW. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries also experienced a decline, with its stock dropping 13,000 KRW to close at 457,000 KRW. Additionally, SK hynix faced a substantial decrease, with its shares falling by 77,000 KRW to 1,653,000 KRW.
Other notable movements included POSCO Holdings, which saw a reduction of 2,000 KRW, closing at 337,500 KRW, and Hyundai Engineering and Construction, which decreased by 400 KRW, ending at 128,900 KRW. Despite these losses, several companies, such as Samsung SDI Co., Ltd., saw gains, with an increase of 2,000 KRW, closing at 571,000 KRW. Similarly, Lotte Chilsung's stock rose by 2,100 KRW, reaching 99,600 KRW, and CJ's shares increased by 3,900 KRW to 130,500 KRW.
The closing prices of KOSPI 200 stocks reflect the dynamic nature of the market amid ongoing economic challenges and opportunities.
