Seoul: Monday witnessed a significant downturn in the KOSPI 200 index, with many major stocks on the Korea Stock Exchange closing in negative territory. The list of affected companies includes some of the leading names in the South Korean market.
According to Yonhap News Agency, HITEJINRO closed at KRW 15,110, down by 380, while Yuhan saw a decrease of 2,700, closing at KRW 73,400. SLCORP's shares dropped by 2,900 to settle at KRW 63,500. CJ LOGISTICS ended at KRW 76,800, marking a decline of 3,500. DOOSAN remained stable at KRW 1,631,000 with no change recorded.
Further declines were seen with DL at KRW 48,650, a fall of 900, and ORION Holdings at KRW 25,000, down by 550. KCC witnessed a significant drop of 7,000, closing at KRW 517,000. SKBP decreased by 1,500, ending at KRW 85,500. ASIA HOLDINGS closed slightly down by 200, at KRW 182,300.
HANJINKAL experienced a substantial decline of 7,300, closing at KRW 113,800, while KAL fell by 900 to KRW 27,050. Despite the overall downturn, LG Corp. bucked the trend with a rise of 1,000, closing at KRW 109,900. Shinsegae also saw a positive movement, gaining 9,000 to close at KRW 720,000.
Other notable declines included POSCO FUTURE M, which fell by 7,500 to KRW 192,000, and Nongshim, which dropped by 19,500, finishing at KRW 344,500. SamsungElec closed at KRW 353,500, down by 500, while DongwonInd declined by 1,350, closing at KRW 31,350.
Among the biopharmaceutical and insurance sectors, GC Biopharma Corp. closed at KRW 121,500, down by 3,200, and DB INSURANCE declined by 3,600 to KRW 141,300. NHIS also fell by 1,200, ending at KRW 30,800.
Heavy industries were not spared, with LS dropping by 16,000 to KRW 394,000, and HD HYUNDAI HEAVY INDUSTRIES falling by 31,000 to close at KRW 63,600. SAMSUNG SDI CO., LTD. saw a reduction of 22,000, closing at KRW 533,000, while OCI Holdings was down by 9,500, ending at KRW 247,000.
In the cable and solutions sector, Taihan Cable and Solution fell by 950 to KRW 37,300, while LG CNS saw an increase of 3,700, closing at KRW 89,500. WooriFinancialGroup ended at KRW 29,850, down by 1,200, and Daesang closed at KRW 17,070, down by 470.
Hyundai M and F INS declined by 1,650, closing at KRW 36,800, and HYOSUNG TNC saw a drop of 6,000, finishing at KRW 287,500. SeAH Steel Holdings decreased by 5,100, ending at KRW 122,000.
In the automotive sector, HyundaiMtr experienced a significant decline of 32,000, closing at KRW 581,000. MiwonComcl fell by 2,000 to KRW 116,500, and Daewoong dropped by 620, ending at KRW 16,950. Finally, HD-Hyundai Marine Engine closed at KRW 65,200, down by 2,200.
