Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index witnessed notable gains with several companies experiencing a surge in their stock prices, according to the latest closing price list. Notably, HYOSUNG HEAVY led the charge with a substantial increase of 118,000, closing at 2,243,000, reflecting a strong performance in the market.
According to Yonhap News Agency, other significant contributors to the index's upward movement included Korea Aerospace, which saw an increase of 12,200, closing at 166,600, and KIA Corp., which rose by 9,500 to settle at 152,500. Hanwha also marked a notable rise, with its stock price increasing by 8,000 to close at 136,500.
Samsung Electronics Mechanics and GC Corp. both saw considerable gains as well, with Samsung Electronics Mechanics up by 5,000 to close at 289,500 and GC Corp. rising by 7,600 to settle at 170,500. SK hynix also contributed to the positive trend with an increase of 7,000, closing at 749,000.
However, not all companies shared in the gains. SAMSUNG SDS experienced a significant drop of 5,800, closing at 174,900. Similarly, KCC and Asia Holdings faced declines, with KCC down by 5,500 to 441,000 and Asia Holdings down by 7,500 to 295,500.
Despite these declines, the overall performance of the KOSPI 200 index was buoyed by the strong performances of key companies, indicating a positive outlook in the market as observed in the recent trading session.
