Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index experienced notable declines as several major stocks closed lower. Key stocks such as HyundaiMtr, POSCO Holdings, and LS saw significant drops in their share prices, contributing to the downward trend in the market.
According to Yonhap News Agency, HyundaiMtr's stock fell by 8,000 to close at 681,000, while POSCO Holdings experienced a decline of 18,500, closing at 423,500. LS recorded one of the steepest drops, with its shares down by 45,000, closing at 508,000. Other stocks like HYUNDAI STEEL and HD HYUNDAI HEAVY INDUSTRIES also saw declines, closing at 41,400 and 74,400 respectively.
Despite the overall downturn, a few stocks bucked the trend. Shinsegae's stock rose by 2,000, closing at 527,000, while GC Biopharma Corp. and OCI Holdings saw increases of 7,000 and 28,000, closing at 150,200 and 388,000, respectively. SamsungElec also saw an upward movement, with its stock increasing by 8,000 to close at 307,000.
The market's overall performance was impacted by a variety of factors, including fluctuations in global markets and investor sentiment. Stocks such as AMOREPACIFIC Holdings, SeAH Steel Holdings, and SAMSUNG SDI CO.,LTD. were among those that experienced declines, closing at 23,000, 169,300, and 630,000, respectively.
