KOSPI 200 Sees Mixed Performance with Notable Gains in Technology and Pharmaceuticals

Seoul: Tuesday's trading session on the Korea Stock Exchange saw mixed results for the KOSPI 200 stocks, with significant gains in the technology and pharmaceutical sectors. According to Yonhap News Agency, the closing prices highlighted a day of varied performances among major stocks.

Notably, Samsung Electronics surged by 15,000 KRW, closing at 259,000 KRW, showcasing a strong day for the technology giant. Similarly, Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. experienced a substantial increase, closing at 416,500 KRW with a gain of 15,500 KRW. In the pharmaceutical sector, Hanmi Pharm reported an increase of 500 KRW, closing at 372,500 KRW, while GC Biopharma Corp. saw a decline of 1,000 KRW, settling at 118,600 KRW.

Meanwhile, the automotive sector experienced mixed outcomes, with Kia Corp. rising by 4,600 KRW to close at 144,600 KRW, whereas SK Innovation dropped by 600 KRW, ending the day at 116,300 KRW. Hyundai Motor remained unchanged at 399,000 KRW.

Retail and consumer goods showed varied movements, with Shinsegae leading gains at 562,000 KRW, up by 31,000 KRW, and Samyang Food making a significant increase of 64,000 KRW, closing at 1,117,000 KRW. Conversely, GS Retail and Orion Holdings faced declines, closing at 25,750 KRW and 25,150 KRW, respectively.

Industrial and materials stocks also showed notable activity, as HD Hyundai Heavy Industries increased by 3,000 KRW to close at 451,500 KRW, and LS gained 9,500 KRW to reach 275,000 KRW. However, KOLON Industries experienced a downturn, falling by 2,000 KRW to 49,600 KRW.

Overall, the trading session concluded with several sectors showing resilience and growth, while others faced challenges, reflecting the dynamic nature of the KOSPI 200 index.
