Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index closed with a mix of gains and losses, as several prominent companies recorded significant changes in their stock prices. Among the gainers, DWEC rose by 620 points to settle at 17,030, while Hyundai Rotem increased by 3,300 points to reach a closing price of 150,200. Samsung E and A also saw a rise, climbing 700 points to a final price of 48,800.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the energy and electronics sectors showed strong performances. Doosan Enerbility made a substantial gain of 2,800 points, closing at 79,900, and LG Electronics advanced by 5,000 points, ending at 190,000. Hanwha Ocean and HD-Hyundai Marine Engine also experienced notable increases, with Hanwha Ocean up 5,000 points to 94,400 and HD-Hyundai Marine Engine up 4,000 points to 59,200.
Despite the overall positive trends in some sectors, other companies faced declines. NC dropped by 5,000 points to 243,500, and LG H and H decreased by 13,500 points, closing at 320,000. Additionally, Shinhan Group and Hana Financial Group saw decreases, losing 3,600 and 4,300 points respectively.
In other movements, LIG Defense and Aerospace surged by 82,000 points, closing at 823,000, marking one of the day's most significant gains. Meanwhile, Hyundai Dept Store increased by 2,000 points to 103,800, and KIH rose by 5,900 points to 193,900. Conversely, KB Financial Group and Hana Financial Group faced declines, with KB Financial Group decreasing by 4,100 points to 171,700.
The fluctuations in the KOSPI 200 index reflect a mixed sentiment in the market, driven by sector-specific performances and broader economic factors. The energy and electronics sectors, in particular, have shown resilience amid the varied market conditions.
