KOSPI 200 Sees Mixed Performance with Gains in Industrial and Chemical Sectors

Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index experienced mixed movements as it closed on Thursday with varied performances among its constituent stocks. Key industrial and chemical stocks recorded notable gains, while some consumer goods companies saw declines.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Nongshim's shares dropped by KRW 2,000 to close at KRW 415,000, while Shinsegae also saw a decrease of KRW 2,000, ending the day at KRW 280,000. On the other hand, industrial giants such as Hyundai Steel and POSCO Future M recorded increases of KRW 1,300 and KRW 7,300, respectively, closing at KRW 32,100 and KRW 195,400.

Chemical sector companies like KPIC and S-Oil also posted gains, with KPIC up KRW 7,700 to KRW 159,200 and S-Oil climbing by KRW 4,600 to KRW 91,800. Meanwhile, Hyundai Mtr achieved a significant rise of KRW 10,500, closing at KRW 422,000.

In the retail sector, GS Retail increased by KRW 200, ending at KRW 20,900, while LotteChilsung experienced a decline, falling by KRW 2,400 to close at KRW 126,800. Other notable movements included SamsungElec's rise of KRW 3,600 to KRW 143,900 and SamsungF and MIns's drop of KRW 4,000 to KRW 475,500.

The trading day reflected a robust performance in industrial and chemical stocks, contributing to the overall mixed results of the KOSPI 200.
