Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index presented a mixed closing at the end of the trading session, with notable gains and losses across various sectors. Among the gainers, Korea Zinc experienced a substantial increase, closing at 1,871,000 with an uptick of 148,000. LS Electric also saw a significant rise, ending at 746,000, marking a gain of 24,000. In contrast, SamyangFood witnessed the largest decline, closing at 1,232,000, down by 16,000.
According to Yonhap News Agency, other companies that experienced notable gains include TaekwangInd, which rose by 37,000 to close at 1,199,000, and OCI Holdings, which increased by 4,500 to end at 150,900. Additionally, KPIC and HANJINKAL saw increases of 14,100 and 13,600, respectively. Meanwhile, LOTTE CHEMICAL Corp gained 5,300, closing at 91,500, and Samsung SDI CO., LTD. increased by 30,000, reaching a closing price of 421,500.
On the losing side, CJ CheilJedang dropped by 2,500 to close at 219,500, while HDKSOE fell by 14,500, ending at 457,500. LOTTE and LotteChilsung also faced declines, with decreases of 1,300 and 2,200, respectively. Other companies such as HD HYUNDAI HEAVY INDUSTRIES and DWS saw declines of 11,000 and 500, respectively.
The trading session highlighted significant volatility with several companies recording gains, while others experienced downturns. The fluctuations in the index reflect the dynamic nature of the market as investors react to various economic indicators and company performances.
