Seoul: Korean Air Co. announced a collaboration with U.S. defense technology firm Anduril Industries Inc. to jointly develop an integrated solution targeting large-scale wildfire prevention and response. The partnership will see the integration of Korean Air's unmanned aerial vehicle technologies into Anduril's wildfire response platform, which is powered by the company's artificial intelligence-based Lattice software.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the system autonomously detects fire outbreaks, issues alerts to authorities, and deploys drones for rapid suppression if necessary. The platform leverages data collected from sensors in the air, on the ground, and in space, allowing it to evaluate the scale and intensity of fires with minimal human involvement.

The initiative is an expansion of a teaming agreement signed in August that covered drone cooperation in South Korea and the Asia-Pacific region. The partnership is designed to address devastating wildfires in the United States and other countries. "Through this partnership with Anduril, we aim to complement manpower-heavy wildfire response systems and play a role in preventing devastating wildfires around the world," a Korean Air official stated.
