Beijing: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has assured Chinese President Xi Jinping of Pyongyang's steadfast support for China's interests. This commitment was highlighted during their discussions in Beijing, as both nations reaffirmed their enduring friendship.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim and Xi held a bilateral meeting at the Great Hall of the People on Thursday. This meeting followed a joint appearance with Russian President Vladimir Putin at a military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, showcasing their solidarity. During the talks, Kim emphasized North Korea's unwavering support for China's efforts to uphold its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and developmental goals.
The discussions took place amidst speculation that North Korea's expanding military cooperation with Moscow could potentially strain its traditional ties with China, possibly diminishing Beijing's influence over Pyongyang.
