Seoul: Kia Corp. reported on Tuesday that its global sales in August saw a 5 percent increase from the previous year, primarily driven by strong demand for its sport utility vehicle (SUV) lineup. The South Korean automaker sold a total of 296,675 vehicles worldwide last month.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Sportage continued to be Kia's bestselling model, with 46,239 units sold. The Seltos followed closely with 35,689 units sold. The company's overseas sales experienced a 7.4 percent year-on-year rise, reaching 225,413 units in August. However, domestic sales saw a decline of 7.6 percent compared to the previous year, totaling 40,213 units.
