Seoul: Kia Corp. announced a second-quarter net income of 2.32 trillion won (US$1.6 billion), marking a 2.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean automaker reported in a regulatory filing that its operating profit for the quarter reached 2.62 trillion won, down from 2.76 trillion won a year earlier. Despite the decline in operating profit, sales rose by 12.6 percent, reaching 33.03 trillion won.
The company's earnings aligned with market predictions. Analysts surveyed by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data arm of Yonhap News Agency, had estimated the net profit to be around 2.31 trillion won.
