Pangyo: Unionized workers at the country's top messenger operator and its management reached a final wage deal Friday after a three-month dispute. The workers voted for the deal which includes a 6.3 percent rise in annual pay in addition to a 3 million-won (US$2,100) special bonus, according to the union.

According to Yonhap News Agency, wage talks between Kakao's labor union and management had been at a standstill since May, after the two sides failed to narrow differences in performance-based incentives. The deadlock prompted workers to take action, resulting in their first-ever strike on June 10. Approximately 1,500 union members participated in the walkout, leaving their jobs for four hours and rallying near the company's headquarters in Pangyo, south of Seoul.

The resolution of the wage dispute marks a significant development for both the union and management, ensuring that employees receive a notable increase in their compensation package. The agreement not only addresses the financial concerns of the workers but also reflects a collaborative effort between the two parties to resolve their differences amicably.
