Goyang: Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) Ltd. has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Airbus SE to enhance their collaboration in the defense and aerospace sectors. The agreement was finalized on Monday during a signing ceremony at KINTEX, located just northwest of Seoul, as part of the Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (ADEX) 2025.

According to Yonhap News Agency, KAI's acting Chief Executive Officer Cha Jae-byung, Airbus Asia-Pacific President Anand Stanley, and Airbus Korea Head Lee Hee-hwan were present at the signing event. The MOU outlines plans for the two companies to explore joint opportunities, including the development of special mission aircraft, high-speed medium-lift helicopters, and conducting flight tests for aerial refueling of the KF-21 and FA-50 fighter jets.

KAI and Airbus also intend to broaden their collaboration into emerging technologies and create new business avenues. For the past two decades, the companies have maintained strong ties, beginning with their joint development of South Korea's Surion helicopters.

Cha Jae-byung remarked that this expanded cooperation is a significant step in bolstering the competitiveness of Korea's aerospace industry. He emphasized that through a strategic partnership founded on mutual trust, the companies aim to achieve sustainable growth and lead in future technologies.
