Seoul: A Japanese man in his 20s has been detained for allegedly breaking into his former girlfriend's residence in Seoul and sexually assaulting her, police said Wednesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the suspect, whose identity was withheld, allegedly climbed onto an apartment air-conditioning unit to enter the home of the victim, a Korean woman in her 40s, on Sunday and sexually assaulted her. The incident unfolded in the Suseo district of Seoul, where local police have been handling the case.
The man was apprehended just hours after the incident, while he was attempting to break the door lock at her residence. He has since been under investigation by the authorities. The relationship between the suspect and the victim reportedly began when they met during the victim's trip to Japan but had ended prior to the alleged assault.
