Seoul: The independent counsel appointed to investigate former President Yoon Suk Yeol's attempt to impose martial law briefly stated Friday that the investigation will be conducted strictly based on the "logic of investigation."

According to Yonhap News Agency, Cho Eun-suk, the independent counsel, emphasized his commitment to a thorough and meticulous investigation. His statement came shortly after President Lee Jae-myung appointed him and two other independent counsels to examine the case involving Yoon, as well as corruption allegations against Yoon's wife and the tragic death of a Marine.

Cho remarked, "I will look meticulously as if I am writing a 'sacho' and fulfill my duties as special prosecutor only in line with the logic of investigation," referencing a historical draft record of court activities from the Joseon Dynasty. His pledge is aimed at ensuring that the investigative efforts of the police, the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, and the prosecution are upheld.

Cho, who previously served as the chief of the Seoul High Prosecutors Office and was the acting chief of the Board of Audit and Inspection, is tasked with investigating a series of charges against Yoon. These charges include insurrection and military mutiny related to the martial law incident in December.
