Seoul: Hyundai Rotem Co., the defense and train subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Group, reported a substantial 55.4 percent increase in its fourth-quarter net profit, reaching 225.4 billion won (US$157 million) compared to the previous year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the company disclosed in a regulatory filing that its operating income for the October-December period surged by 65.4 percent year-on-year to 267.5 billion won. Meanwhile, sales saw a 12.8 percent rise, totaling 1.62 trillion won.

The reported earnings aligned with market expectations, with analysts' average net profit estimate standing at 226.8 billion won, as per a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data arm of Yonhap News Agency.
