Seoul: Hyundai Motor Group on Thursday promoted four executives to the rank of president as part of its year-end executive reshuffle, highlighting a focus on strengthening research and development (R and D), manufacturing and overseas sales.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Hyundai Motor Co.'s Manfred Harrer and Jung Jun-chul, Kia Corp.'s Yoon Seung-kyu and Hyundai Steel Co.'s Lee Bo-ryong were promoted to president. Harrer, who joined the group last year, has led Hyundai Motor's R and D division and is expected to enhance technological competitiveness for software-defined vehicles.

Jung, who oversees Hyundai's manufacturing and purchasing operations, will focus on building a software-centered future production system and advancing next-generation manufacturing technologies. Yoon, who headed Kia's North American operations, was promoted in recognition of his role in strengthening the company's market presence in the United States, according to the group.
