Hyundai Motor Co. Reaches 100 Million Global Production Milestone in 2024

Seoul: Hyundai Motor Co. has achieved a significant milestone by reaching 100 million units in global cumulative production, 57 years after its establishment.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this achievement marks a historic moment for the South Korean automaker, highlighting its growth and expansion in the global automotive industry.

The journey toward this milestone began in 1967 when Hyundai Motor Co. was founded. Over the decades, the company has expanded its production capabilities, introducing a wide range of vehicles to meet the demands of diverse markets worldwide. This accomplishment not only underscores Hyundai's manufacturing capabilities but also its ability to adapt and innovate in a highly competitive industry.

In other historical events involving South Korea, the nation established diplomatic relations with Panama in 1962, marking the beginning of its efforts to expand international ties. The International Olympic Committee's decision in 1981 to select Seoul as the host for the 1988 Summer Olympics further positioned South Korea on the global stage.

The year 1990 was also notable as the Soviet Union established diplomatic relations with South Korea, reflecting changing geopolitical dynamics. In more recent years, 2013 saw the financial challenges of Tong Yang Inc., the country's 38th-largest conglomerate, as it announced that three of its affiliates would file for court receivership.

Furthermore, 2017 witnessed the first joint short-range air defense drill conducted by South Korean and U.S. forces on the Korean Peninsula, showcasing the ongoing military collaboration between the two nations.
