Seoul: Hitejinro Co., South Korea's leading beverage company, announced the release of a new advertisement for its flagship beer brand Terra, which parodies Nvidia Corp. chief Jensen Huang's recent "chimaek" gathering with local corporate leaders in Seoul.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the advertisement, now available on YouTube and other digital platforms, recreates the meeting between Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Samsung Electronics Co. Chairman Lee Jae-yong, and Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung at a Kkanbu Chicken outlet in southern Seoul on October 30. The meeting was notable for featuring beer and fried chicken, a popular combination known as "chimaek" in South Korea.
The commercial begins with a man in a leather jacket entering a chicken restaurant. He places a "Terra Somaek Tower" on the table and raises a bottle of Terra, declaring "Dinner is free!" before linking arms with two others for a "love shot" with glasses of beer. The ad showcases models enjoying somaek, a mix of beer and soju, using the Terra Tower, an automatic machine designed for this purpose.
Filmed at the Kkanbu Chicken branch in Samseong-dong, the same location as the executives' meeting, the ad includes a humorous twist at the end: a server asks, "Boss, the customer is asking if he can pay with a graphics card?" This nod to Nvidia's core business adds a playful element to the advertisement. The commercial's setting and timing coincide with Huang's visit to South Korea for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit held on October 31 in Gyeongju.
