Seoul: HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. announced it has secured a significant order valued at 357.5 billion won (US$245 million) to construct a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier for Angola's state-run oil company.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the contract has been awarded by Sonangol Shipping Holding Ltd. The delivery of the LNG carrier is scheduled for completion by June 2028, as stated in a regulatory filing by the company.
HD Hyundai Samho is one of the three shipbuilding affiliates under HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Co. (HD KSOE), which also includes HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. and HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. HD KSOE operates as a sub-holding company of HD Hyundai Co., recognized as South Korea's leading shipbuilding group.
HD KSOE has set an ambitious target to secure $23.31 billion in orders this year, an increase from the $18.16 billion achieved in the previous year.
