Seoul: HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., South Korea's leading shipbuilder, has announced a significant 375 billion-won (US$256 million) contract to construct two petrochemical product carriers for an African shipper. The vessels are scheduled for delivery by July 2028, as revealed in a regulatory filing by the company.

According to Yonhap News Agency, HD Hyundai Heavy is one of the two primary shipbuilding entities under HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Co. (HD KSOE), a subholding company of HD Hyundai Co. The other key unit is HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. This latest order contributes to HD KSOE's impressive performance this year, with the company securing ship orders valued at $17.58 billion, thus reaching 97.4 percent of its annual target of $18.05 billion.
