Seoul: Hanwha Ocean Co., a South Korean shipbuilder, announced on Tuesday that it has secured a substantial contract worth 477.8 billion won (approximately US$349 million) to construct three very large gas carriers (VLGCs) for a client located in Oceania. The shipbuilding company revealed that the vessels are slated for delivery to the unnamed client by December 6, 2030, as per the details shared in a regulatory filing.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this recent contract enhances Hanwha Ocean's growing order book, bringing the total value of its secured orders to $5.94 billion, encompassing 32 vessels. Among these are six liquefied natural gas carriers and 17 very large crude carriers, underscoring the company's robust presence in the global shipbuilding industry. This new deal further cements Hanwha Ocean's position as a leader in the construction of specialized maritime vessels, catering to the increasing demand for large-scale gas and crude carriers.
