Seoul: Hanwha Aerospace Co., South Korea's leading defense company, reported a significant increase in its annual operating profit for 2025, marking a 75 percent rise from the previous year. This growth was primarily fueled by the expansion of its ground defense and aerospace businesses.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the company disclosed in a regulatory filing that its operating profit for the year amounted to 3.03 trillion won (US$2.08 billion), a substantial increase from 1.73 trillion won in 2024. The company's annual sales also more than doubled, reaching 26.6 trillion won. Despite the impressive growth in operating profit and sales, Hanwha Aerospace experienced a 15.7 percent decline in net profit, which stood at 2.14 trillion won.

Last year's record operating profit represented Hanwha Aerospace's third consecutive year of achieving unprecedented financial performance. The ground defense business was the primary driver of this growth, achieving a record profit of 2.01 trillion won. This success was supported by notable exports, including K9 self-propelled howitzers to Norway and the Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher system to Estonia.

The aerospace division also maintained its growth trajectory for the third year in a row, with sales climbing to 2.51 trillion won. A significant increase in military orders allowed the aerospace division to transition from a net loss in 2024 to an operating profit of 23 billion won, marking a return to profitability.

A company official highlighted that 2025 was a transformative year for Hanwha Aerospace, as it became an integrated defense and shipbuilding group following the consolidation of Hanwha Ocean Co. The company aims to sustain its growth, enhance its global presence, and reinforce its contribution to South Korea's national security.
