GM Korea’s January Sales Surge 41.4% Due to Strong Export Performance

Seoul: GM Korea Co., the South Korean subsidiary of General Motors Co., reported a significant increase in its January sales, attributing the growth to robust overseas demand. The company revealed that its sales for the month reached 44,703 vehicles, marking a 41.4% rise compared to the 31,618 units sold during the same period last year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, while GM Korea experienced a decline in domestic sales, which dropped 37.8% year-on-year to 765 units from 1,229 units, the export figures painted a brighter picture. Exports soared by 44.6%, with 43,938 vehicles shipped overseas compared to 30,389 units in January of the previous year.

The Chevrolet Trax Crossover SUV was the top performer in the international market, recording sales of 26,860 units. It was closely followed by the Trailblazer compact SUV, which saw 17,078 units sold abroad. GM Korea's product lineup includes two locally assembled models, the Trailblazer and the Trax Crossover, alongside two imported models, the Colorado pickup and the GMC Sierra Denali.
