Seoul: GM Korea Co., the South Korean unit of General Motors Co., announced a significant increase in sales for April, reporting a rise of nearly 15 percent compared to the same period last year. The growth was primarily driven by strong overseas demand.
According to Yonhap News Agency, GM Korea sold a total of 47,760 vehicles in April, marking a 14.7 percent increase from the previous year. The company's exports experienced a robust climb, growing by 16.4 percent to 46,949 units. However, domestic sales saw a noticeable decline, dropping 38.8 percent year-on-year to 811 units from 1,326 units.
The Chevrolet Trax Crossover SUV was the leading model in overseas sales, with 31,239 units sold, followed by the Trailblazer compact SUV, which sold 15,710 units. These two models were significant players in the U.S. compact SUV market last year, accounting for 43 percent of the market share with combined sales of 420,000 units.
