Giants’ Lee Jung-hoo Returns from Injury; Dodgers’ Kim Hye-seong Sent to Minors

Denver: One South Korean player in Major League Baseball (MLB) has returned from a recent injury, while another has been sent to the minors. According to Yonhap News Agency, the San Francisco Giants reinstated outfielder Lee Jung-hoo from the 10-day injured list (IL) and started him in right field against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field in Denver on Friday. The third-year MLB player had been sidelined with a mid-back strain. Before his injury, Lee was batting .268 with three home runs and 17 RBIs in 48 games. He demonstrated strong performance in April with a .312 average, though his numbers dipped in May, hitting just .221. In contrast, the Los Angeles Dodgers made a roster adjustment by optioning infielder Kim Hye-seong to Triple-A on Friday ahead of their game against the Philadelphia Phillies. This move coincided with the Dodgers re-signing utility player Santiago Espinal, who had been designated for assignment earlier in the week but was brought back due to a series of injuries affecting the team. K im has been batting .259 with one home run, 11 RBIs, and five steals in 43 games this season. However, his recent form has been concerning, with a batting average of just .186 over the last 15 games, accompanied by 16 strikeouts and four walks. This decline prompted Dodgers manager Dave Roberts to comment on Kim's altered swing and current challenges. "I think he's losing his legs a little bit," Roberts mentioned to reporters. "There's a lot more swing and miss than there was earlier. I think he's just playing a little bit, with my eyes, a little bit more tentative and not as free and easy as he was in some parts of last year and early on. He'll perform back to where he can and will. And so that's kind of what we're hoping for."
