Gates Foundation Official Explores AI-Based Health Care Cooperation with South Korea

Seoul: A senior government official met Wednesday with an official of the Gates Foundation and discussed how to increase cooperation in the health care and bio sectors by taking advantage of artificial intelligence technology, the Prime Minister's Office said.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim Jin-nam, head of the office for international development cooperation under the Prime Minister's Office, expressed during the meeting with Joe Cerrell, managing director for global policy and advocacy, that South Korea hopes to expand cooperation with the world's largest charity based on the country's advanced AI and biotechnologies.

Cerrell expressed gratitude for South Korea's cooperation with international health care organizations, including its financial contribution to the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, and said he looks forward to the country taking advantage of its AI technology to play further active roles, according to the Prime Minister's Office.

The official also said the foundation plans to open an office in South Korea in the second half of the year, it added.
