Galaxy Z Series Sets New Preorder Record in South Korea

Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co.'s Galaxy Z foldable smartphones have achieved a new preorder milestone in South Korea, as the company announced Tuesday. The latest foldable smartphone lineup, which includes the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8, has amassed a total of 1.44 million orders.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this figure surpasses the previous record set by the Galaxy Note 10 in 2019, which garnered 1.38 million preorders. The Galaxy Z series phones are equipped with Alphabet Inc.'s Gemini artificial intelligence (AI), aiming to provide users with tailored devices and a more personalized AI experience.

Samsung highlighted the appeal of its advanced foldable phone technology and the growing consumer interest in new form factors as key factors driving the popularity of the Galaxy Z series. Additionally, various consumer benefits offered during the presales period contributed to the high demand. The early sales period for these devices spanned from Wednesday to Monday.

The new foldable phone lineup is slated for gradual release in approximately 100 countries starting Friday, marking a significant step in Samsung's global rollout strategy.
