Brazzaville: Jung Hai-ung, the foreign ministry's special envoy to the Republic of Congo, has attended the inauguration ceremony of President Denis Sassou Nguesso, the foreign ministry said Friday. The ceremony took place in the capital city, Brazzaville, on Thursday, as reported by the ministry.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Jung met with President Sassou Nguesso during the visit, where he conveyed President Lee Jae Myung's congratulations on the inauguration. Jung expressed hopes for cooperative relations between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Congo.
In addition to meeting with the president, Jung held discussions with Vice Foreign Minister Guy Nestor Itoua on Wednesday. During this meeting, Jung introduced the upcoming Korea-Africa foreign ministers' meeting, which is scheduled to take place in Seoul in June. He also extended an invitation for the Congolese government's participation in the event.
Jung Hai-ung is noted for his experience as a retired diplomat and former ambassador to Algeria, further emphasizing the importance of his role in fostering diplomatic ties between the two nations.
