Seoul: Foreign Minister Cho Hyun met with top diplomatic envoys from China and Japan to seek closer trilateral cooperation, the ministry said Wednesday. Cho hosted Chinese Ambassador to South Korea Dai Bing, Japanese Ambassador to South Korea Koichi Mizushima, as well as senior officials from the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) at his official residence.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the TCS, established in 2011 in Seoul, is an intergovernmental body tasked with promoting "lasting peace, common prosperity and shared culture" among Seoul, Beijing, and Tokyo, as stated on its website. During the dinner, Cho expressed hope that the TCS would continue to broaden cooperation, calling it "an important cooperation framework" for advancing peace and stability in the region and the practical interests of each nation.
The minister also reaffirmed Seoul's commitment to supporting the organization and playing an active role in its work, according to the ministry.
