Washington: South Korea's Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) announced its participation as a sponsor in the annual U.S. congressional charity baseball event in Washington, aiming to promote Korean companies' investments in America.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the FKI's sponsorship of the Congressional Baseball Game for Charity, held on Wednesday, was part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relationships. This comes as both nations engage in ongoing tariff negotiations, which are expected to progress following recent governmental changes in South Korea.

During the event, the FKI showcased promotional videos that underscored the achievements of Korean companies investing in the United States. The content highlighted significant contributions since the first term of U.S. President Donald Trump in 2016, with Korean businesses investing over US$160 billion and creating approximately 830,000 jobs.

FKI Chairman Ryu Jin attended the official reception and reiterated Korea's investment contributions in the U.S. He also highlighted the competitiveness of Korean industries in sectors such as shipbuilding and energy, which are viewed as promising areas for bilateral cooperation.

The federation has expressed its intention to continue promoting Korean corporate activities in the U.S. through various channels, including local media and social media platforms.
