Ankara: First lady Kim Hea Kyung of South Korea and Turkish first lady Emine Erdogan visited Turkey's largest library in Ankara, where they shared insights on cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, as announced by Seoul's presidential office.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the two first ladies toured the Nation's Library on Monday. During their visit, they explored the Korean-language section and discussed the increasing interest in Korean culture among Turkish youth, as highlighted by vice presidential spokesperson Jeon Eun-soo in a written briefing. Kim's visit to Turkey was part of her accompaniment of President Lee Jae Myung on his state visit.

While at the library, the first ladies enjoyed a performance of the Korean folk song "Arirang" and a piano recital held in honor of Kim, who has a background in piano. They also visited an archaeological exhibition hall featuring artifacts excavated throughout Turkey, along with cultural properties that have been repatriated from abroad.

Following the library tour, Kim and Erdogan convened at the presidential residence, where they signed the Zero Waste Initiative. This agreement commits both nations to supporting efforts aimed at waste reduction and recycling promotion, as noted by Jeon.

On the same day, Kim also took time to visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, Turkey's national archaeological museum, recognized as one of the country's most esteemed cultural institutions.
