Customs Agency Seizes 117,000 Counterfeit Goods of Korean Brands in 2025

Seoul: South Korea's customs agency announced that it has seized a total of 117,000 counterfeit items bearing local brands as part of a special crackdown conducted last year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the majority of these counterfeit goods, accounting for 97.7 percent, were imported from China, with only 2.2 percent originating from Vietnam. The seized items included counterfeit cosmetics products of local brands, key chains associated with the popular boy band BTS, and fake electronic goods from well-known local companies, such as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics.

The customs agency has outlined plans to implement follow-up measures in alignment with a memorandum of understanding signed with China earlier this month, aimed at protecting intellectual property at the border level. Additionally, the agency intends to expand cooperation with customs agencies from other countries and establish a public-private consultative body with domestic brands to devise preventive strategies.
