Coupang’s Electronic Signature Key Exploited in Prolonged Data Breach

Seoul: A major data breach at Coupang Inc., a leading e-commerce platform, has compromised the personal information of over 30 million customers. This breach, which lasted from June 24 to November 8, involved the unauthorized use of the company's electronic signature key, officials revealed on Tuesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Second Vice Minister Ryu Je-myung disclosed during a parliamentary session that their investigation of log data spanning from July of the previous year to November this year confirmed the leak. The breach exposed sensitive data from millions of accounts.

The minister highlighted that the breach was executed through the misuse of Coupang's electronic signature key, a vital component for accessing the company's servers. This revelation underscores the vulnerability of digital infrastructures and the critical need for robust cybersecurity measures.
