Kuala lumpur: West Coast Expressway (WCE) has urged motorists to plan their return journeys, as traffic is expected to surge towards the Klang Valley this weekend, with Chinese New Year (CNY) festivities winding down, the end of school holidays, and the start of Ramadan.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, WCE stated that the heaviest congestion is expected from mid-afternoon until late evening on the inbound route to the Klang Valley, with daily vehicle volumes projected to exceed 160,000. The return journey is anticipated to be more concentrated compared to the more spread-out outbound wave earlier in the holidays, due to the rush to resume routines ahead of Ramadan's early days.
Motorists are advised by WCE to plan ahead and depart early in the morning, where possible, to avoid peak afternoon and evening congestion. They are also encouraged to download the WCE App for real-time traffic updates and live closed-circuit television (CCTV) feeds.
WCE also emphasized the importance of ensuring vehicles are roadworthy, observing speed limits, wearing seatbelts, and remaining alert. Additionally, motorcyclists are reminded that the emergency lane is strictly for emergencies and not an exclusive motorcycle lane.
Electric vehicle (EV) users have the option to recharge at high-capacity stations available on the Perak stretch, including the Trong toll plaza and Taiping Selatan toll plaza, as well as the Selangor stretch at the SAE toll plaza and Assam Jawa toll plaza. In case of emergencies, travelers can contact the WCE infoline at 1700-81-6600 for immediate assistance.
